Ophthalmology

"Offering vision and eye care services aimed at improving eye health and identifying vision-related problems early"

Department Overview

A glimpse into what we do

Healthy vision is essential for education, employment, daily functioning, and overall quality of life, making eye care an important component of medical camps. The Ophthalmology Department focuses on the early identification, prevention, and management of common vision and eye-related concerns within the community. Its scope includes vision screening, eye examinations, assessment of refractive errors, identification of ocular conditions, patient counselling, and referral support for advanced ophthalmic care when necessary. Common concerns such as refractive errors, cataracts, conjunctivitis, dry eyes, diabetic eye complications, and age-related vision changes can be recognized during screening. The role of the department extends beyond diagnosis by promoting awareness regarding eye hygiene, preventive eye care, nutrition for eye health, and protection against eye strain and environmental factors. Beneficiaries are educated on the importance of regular eye examinations, proper use of spectacles, and timely medical attention for visual symptoms. Ophthalmology services in medical camps lies in enabling early diagnosis and timely intervention, reducing the burden of preventable visual impairment and supporting healthier, more productive communities. We have collaborated with the Ophthalmology Departement of Christian Medical College (CMC) , Vellore for Opthalmologist team participation in medical camps
